Hunt Methods

Spot-and-stalk: These hunts focus on glassing clear cuts, south-facing slopes, and gated logging roads where bears commonly feed in the spring. Hunters spend time behind the glass locating bears and then making a stalk when the right opportunity presents itself. Calling may also be used depending on conditions.

Hound Hunts: Montana reopened spring bear hunting with hounds in 2022. Our experienced bear dogs come from some of the best lines in the region, and we run dogs extensively in both Idaho and Montana. Hunters who choose this method will experience the excitement of the chase while listening to the dogs trail and bay the bear.

What to Expect

Our hunting area holds a very high concentration of black bears. Depending on weather and conditions, hunters may see multiple bears during a hunt. The region produces a wide range of color phases including cinnamon, chocolate, brown, blonde, and red. Our focus is on pursuing mature bears and providing hunters with the opportunity to harvest a true trophy.

Spring Black Bear

Location: Bitterroot Mountains & Sapphire Mountains, Southwest Montana

Season Dates: Typically December – March (varies by quota and conditions)

Hunt Methods

Hound Hunts: Our mountain lion hunts are conducted with experienced hounds that track and pursue lions through rugged mountain terrain until the cat is treed. Hunters then hike in with their guide for the opportunity to evaluate and harvest the lion. This method provides an exciting and traditional Western lion hunting experience.

What to Expect

Our hunting area spans more than 1.2 million acres of prime mountain lion habitat in southwest Montana. The region recently transitioned to a trophy mountain lion quota system, which means hunters no longer need to draw a tag in advance. This has helped maintain a strong lion population with excellent genetics and allows us to be selective when pursuing mature trophy toms.

Lion hunting in this vast country offers an unforgettable adventure as hunters follow hounds through rugged mountains and deep timber in pursuit of these incredible predators. To maintain a high-quality experience, we limit our hunts to 6–8 lion hunters per year, allowing us to focus on targeting mature trophy tom lions.

Hunt Methods

Spot-and-Stalk: Bighorn sheep hunts are conducted using spot-and-stalk methods in rugged mountain terrain. Hunters and guides spend significant time glassing from vantage points to locate rams before making careful stalks to get within range. These hunts often require covering steep and demanding country and are considered one of the most physically challenging and rewarding big game hunts in North America.

What to Expect

Montana offers some of the finest bighorn sheep hunting in the country. A license must be obtained through the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks special draw, with applications typically due by May 1st each year.

If you are fortunate enough to draw a tag, you will be hunting in exceptional sheep country with strong genetics and the potential to harvest a truly impressive ram. Many of the rams taken in this region qualify as Boone & Crockett caliber trophies.

Because of the rarity and significance of this hunt, Montana requires all bighorn sheep hunts to be conducted with at least a 1:1 guide-to-client ratio. These once-in-a-lifetime tags deserve careful preparation, patience, and experienced guidance in the field.

Hunt Methods

Spot-and-Stalk: Shiras moose hunts are conducted using spot-and-stalk methods through timber, creek bottoms, and alpine basins where moose commonly travel and feed. Hunters and guides spend time glassing and moving through likely habitat to locate mature bulls before making a careful approach.

What to Expect

The Shiras moose in our region of southwest Montana are known for excellent genetics and the potential to harvest a truly impressive bull. Moose licenses in Montana are issued through the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks special draw, with applications typically due by May 1st each year.

Because these tags are limited and highly sought after, we encourage hunters to apply every year and build bonus points, which increases the chances of drawing a permit over time.
